I am researching a question very similar to AmericanPride's RFI just added yesterday on politics and war.
My question is, "when did "The History of the Peloponnesian War" become a standard part of a military officer's education. I remember vaguely that it was popular as early as the American Civil War, but I can find no reference of General Washington reading it.
Does anyone know when it became a staple of military education?
