The Gulf Arab monarchies are currently in the depths of a deep and painful spat. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain have joined forces to compel Qatar to change its policies and its approach to foreign policy. We can offer educated guesses as to what is irritating the troika this time, not least through extrapolating from similar difficulties in recent decades. But, aside from some generic complaints emanating from the media outlets hostile to Qatar, there are, in reality, few actual details available. Nor are there any official statements of demands from the troika currently available for Qatar’s elite to consider and respond to.
