Default "Analysis: Military Shows Gains in Iraq"

    AP article here: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php...show_article=1

BAGHDAD (AP) - AP Video The new U.S. military strategy in Iraq, unveiled six months ago to little acclaim, is working.
In two weeks of observing the U.S. military on the ground and interviewing commanders, strategists and intelligence officers, it's apparent that the war has entered a new phase in its fifth year.

It is a phase with fresh promise yet the same old worry: Iraq may be too fractured to make whole.

No matter how well or how long the U.S. military carries out its counterinsurgency mission, it cannot guarantee victory.

    Only the Iraqis can...
Not surprisingly, it's by Robert Burns. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the MSM treats it (and him).

Interestingly enough, there appears to be a recent "surge" of positive news about the intial success of the military "surge" in Iraq. What is somewhat disconcerting, is that nobody, in the media, is really looking beyond what we get if/when the surge really works. When it finally works the Iraqi population will have perceived security. The question that remains is what are the political and economic capabilities and capacities that need to be developed for the Iraqis and what resources are we comitting to those developments. Regrettably, I think the media/pundits/politicians should be focusing on that. I guess time will tell.
