As just a responder I found it interesting...partly for the questions and partly for the challenge of coming up with what (I hope) were useful short answers. I wasn't monitoring the WP side, so I don't know how it all looked from that end.

I have to admit that I found their technology very frustrating - constantly having to hit the refresh button doesn't make for an easy user experience ! That said, I think that the questions were, for the most part, pretty decent (drat, my T key is sticking again ). I think the answers were handled well, and I expect we will see another spike in people showing up here.

    Default THe Unanswered Questions

From your closing post on the WP side, it appears that you guys got more questions than you could answer in the time allowed. Is there any way we can get them all posted here? We could then try to put up some answers. You might even get the WP folks to note we are doing/have done this, which could up at least our drive-by readership as folks see whether their questions got answered.

The only thing that makes me hesitate to propose the "opening up" is that the WP might feel like the answeres need to be refereed to ensure its high standards of journalism integrity are maintained .

Is the WP archiving any of this? Might be interesting to link to or at least discuss here.

    Default Very interesting

I thought it was great and the questions were much better than I was expecting.

The WaPo refreshing they was kind of a pain. And time would have allowed for some better prepared answers as well as answering more questions. But, I enjoyed it and hope the readers did, too.

Do we have more questions we can answer if people click over for viewing?

I hope you meant the pain was felt by the WP, not the SWJ.

Default Agree with all the comments

I had hoped for higher tech, which Marc and I wrote about.

I did enjoy the fast pace, and do hope some of those come here for answers.

    Default Lesson Learned For Me

I typed my answers in Word to ensure I would keep spelling mistakes to a minimum - that said, when I pasted into the WP forum ' and -'s became little square boxes. If we ever do this again I'll figure that one out.

I appreciate Council members participating - if asked back I am sure we can smooth the process out now having gone through the drill once.

I apologize for not seeing it go down - I spent my lunch on the phone with DFAS - seems they kicked by my initial voucher for something I know I sent with with it - maybe I'd have been better off putting in a question to the Wa Po as to why so many Army Officers are having to foot the bill here in the NCR for the opportunity to get the ILE education it wants them to have her at Belvoir.

Anyway -sorry for the rant, and sorry I missed it - looks like it went down well

    Best, Rob

Marc, their dashboard for us refreshed automatically. Their public portal did not, much like our forum display did not as you were trying to look for unanswered questions here. Would have been nice, but auto-refresh can sometimes be even more of a pain.

Sorry for not more clearly specifying the SWC forum / thread / post scheme and leaving you hanging on the WaPo discussion-in-progress display. It got us confused a bit up front, but was salvaged pretty well.

Yes, we'll keep this forum for a little bit. Will re-organize the content at some point, but as a move, not a delete.

The Post was gracious and we now have beau coup links there that point to discussion here. Looking into the unanswered questions, I don't know if they'll be available. If so, I'll post here.

We saw that question. But it was a little whiny and at the same time impossible to answer, so we had to let it go. We could crack world hunger more easily.

    Hope you're getting paid!

    Default A little surprised...

Like many, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of questions. If we do get some traffic from the Post's discussion, it will be quality traffic.

So far this week, only 51 hits referred from washingtonpost.com. Not the spike that selil prophecied may bring our server to its knees.

Oh well, maybe more will follow. It was still a good experience and I very much appreciated participation from the Council, and the ongoing discussions here.

    - quite a feather in the SWC cap IMO to hit the big-time like this - major congrats are in order. A couple of my questions got answered though the one question, " This Stan guy - who has he been in former lives?" was not addressed......

Not everything was up for discussion (there).
