Default WaPo Request for Contributor Bios

A very courteous, reasonable and understanding request from the Posts's discussion editor, Chris.

Your "no" or non-answer would be very reasonable, too. But if any of you choose to reply, please do so here and post in the reply the bio you'd like for him to use when he doctors up the record. We will never release member's info, totally your call.

Very good discussion today, guys, thanks again for your time.

One caveat -- I didn't really think through Bill's request to post responses to questions from the Small Wars Council. Our policy generally is that all of our guests should be clearly identified for our readers. It's one way we distinguish ourselves from other Internet forums.

I was wondering if it might be possible for us to get names and pertinent occupational info (basically Bill's bio graph) for the Small Wars Council members whose responses were posted. I understand if this is not possible -- I know that anonymity is in some cases used because of professional repercussions -- but we'd definitely appreciate it ift hey'd go "on the record" so to speak so that we could stick to our standards.

None of this, of course, is intended to denigrate their contributions to the discussion, which I certainly found valuable.

This is the list of screen names that were posted: selil, Steve Blair, marct, wm, kehenry1, stan, J Wolfsberger, slapout9.

Again, I understand if this is not doable.

    Thanks again,
    Chris

Geez--I would have paid closer attention if I'd known this was an opportunity for more shameless self-promotion!

But, sorry I wasn't more active. This was my first day back at work since August and I felt like the Godfather: someone was plopped in my office all day. As soon as one left, another one came in.

slapout9, is a retired Law Enforcement officer and presently employed as a security manager at a Hospital in Alabama. He also served in the 82nd Airborne Division from Sep 1972-Sep 1975. He also worked with Colonel John Warden to adapt his five rings targeting theory for use in Counter-Stalking operations and it was further adapted for use with a Fugitive Apprehension Unit in Alabama. He also recommended the use of GPS tracking systems for use on non-violent criminal early release programs. As of about 3 weeks ago he found out this will become a reality as the Alabama Department of Pardons and Paroles will institute one of the largest programs of it's kind.

I can understand the second as the triumph of hope over experience, but how do you explain the third?

    Default Update

The Washington Post page has been updated...

Note for readers: Washingtonpost.com's policy against guest anonymity wasn't explained to Small Wars Journal with regard to postings below by members of their Small Wars Council. Most agreed to be identified by name. Their brief bios of named posters follow. The only remaining anonymous was removed...
