    Default You may be right...

However I would be surprised if those same "christians" had established a media outlet to counter christian stereotypes...

Lets be balanced... when someone from a western/US culture commits an act such as beheading a spouse... it is a manifestation of poor mental health and/or morals...

That does not seem to be the case here... rather the act is a manifestation of a cultural norm that makes allowances for "honor" killings and the subjugation of females as less than males...

SethB, Not sure if you meant your response to be interpretted as tongue in cheek, but if not it is you who is barking up the wrong tree

We might want to withhold judgment until we find out if this is a nut case who happens to be Muslim, or a (more or less) sane person who defends himself on the grounds that the Koran instructed his actions.

    Default In re:

I suppose you are correct... Hence my comment to SethB as to whether his response was tongue in cheek

However, I think it is at least reasonable to assume my interpretation given his immediate trip to the police to report his own action... nut cases usually don't march immediately down to the local authorites to report "what a bad boy am I"

Well, not beheadings, but there are some very good examples from about 1987 or so. Think Swaggart....

Which brings up the interesting possibility of cultural conditioning in choosing a narrative that minimizes social retribution...
