Default Challenging our perception of the developing world.

    20 minute TED clip

Talking at the US State Department this summer, Hans Rosling uses his fascinating data-bubble software to burst myths about the developing world. Look for new analysis on China and the post-bailout world, mixed with classic data shows.

Nothing that results in human progress is achieved with unanimous consent. (Christopher Columbus)

All great truth passes through three stages: first it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

    Default Great

    Kiwigrunt,

Two brilliant lectures on public health and another on poverty: http://www.ted.com/talks/hans_roslin...ever_seen.html
by Hans Rosling Swedish "African hand" speaker (his bio is there too).

In the linked talk Americans will like the last minute where he compliments the USA.

Convergence is the theme and the amazing success of some countries. Sub-Sahara Africa is the 'Chaos Country' on a huge scale, with a few exceptions.

Hopefully Bob's World and his quest for strategic intelligence will stop by and listen.

Finally have a peek at this website:http://www.gapminder.org/ whose motto is 'Unveiling the beauty of statistics for a fact based world view'

This latest TED talk by Hans Rosling is about population growth.

The world's population will grow to 9 billion over the next 50 years -- and only by raising the living standards of the poorest can we check population growth. This is the paradoxical answer that Hans Rosling unveils at TED@Cannes using colorful new data display technology (you'll see).
