Default The Threat from Swarm Attacks (catch all)

Hat tip to Abu M and Carl Prine for the pointer to Cerwyn Moore's article in the CTC Sentinel; the full title being 'The Threat from Swarm Attacks: Case Studies from the North Caucasus' and on:http://www.ctc.usma.edu/posts/the-th...north-caucasus

Searching on SWC I found 'swarming' appears on thirty-five threads, with two threads referring to the term in their title - only one actually gaining traction via posts and views 'Not 4GW/Swarming but RoE and Laws of War need adapting':http://council.smallwarsjournal.com/...ad.php?t=10126

    Dr. Moore concludes:
Finally, it is important not to ascribe incidents such as swarm attacks as wholly new, but rather to recognize how groups have adapted and varied their usage of these tactics as varying constraints are placed upon them.
    He adds:
Virtually all of the attacks employed in recent years, including many aspects of the 2008 Mumbai raid, or the swarm attacks in Pakistan and Afghanistan, have in fact already occurred in the North Caucasus.
The conflict in that region is not IMO widely known and generally has a low public profile in the West - so only specialists and the Russians are likely to identify - publicly - developments.

Incidentally I learnt this week that there is a small Chechen community in Syria and knowing that "kith & kin" links are always strong between Chechen communities maybe something to ponder?

Carl Prine has yet to comment, but AbuM has this article, mainly on C2 and the US situation:http://www.cnas.org/blogs/abumuqawam....html#comments

    AbuM note remarks:
Mumbai is fast becoming the Algeria of swarming: an over-used case that has reached the culminating point of its utility to theory and practice
Even so on SWC the extensive Mumbai thread has IIRC discussed many of the issues raised, such as C2 and police access to weaponry:http://council.smallwarsjournal.com/...ead.php?t=6345

    That's all folks!

    Default RFI -Swarming

My OU colleague, Erika Robb- Larkins (who is an exceptional Brazilianist) asked me if I knew of any good books, articles, or memos on swarming tactics. I referred her here to SWJ but also said I would post this RFI. She would greatly appreciate your insights as would I.

    Cheers
