Let me be the first to contribute what the donkey goes through in the everyday life in a small wars environment.

"Then I'd certainly be a damned fool to feel any other way. Wouldn't I?"

My horses aren't sure about the donkeys (3) that live across the street - especially when they bray! In fact, they aren't to sure of any long eared equines.

Seiously, if you want a donkey, think about adoption through the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) wild horse and burro adoption program. The site in Pauls Valley OK is close enough that we are planning a visit - thinking about a mustang.

    Cheers

HMMWV run out of gas? Donkeys to the rescue. A little less armor protection, but what it lacks in protection, it makes up for in stealth and less required maintenance.

Canadian Forces in Afghanistan will have another item added to their arsenal next summer — donkeys.

Maj. Charles Janzen, the Canadian soldier spearheading the donkey brigade idea, says the animals can survive with very little water and can carry a significant amount of weight — nearly 160 kilograms.
Donkey? Sounds like he's describing a student in Ranger School. In fact, he sounds like an RI - sees the student as non-human and always thinks that he can carry more ammo.
