During the Crimea and the initial mercenary takeover in eastern Ukraine I took a lot of heated comments from some commenters who felt that diplomacy was the way forward and sending weapons to the Ukraine and or assisting them and or use of really heavy sanctions ie SWIFT was the totally wrong way to go.
Now seven going on eight months in-- who basically was right?
We had yesterday a perfect example of "western" diplomacy at work in Berlin and at the UNSC---and what exactly again was "achieved" not a darn thing.
Putin is driving on his new military UW doctrine and a geo political strategy---AND we the west do not even have a strategy yet---Putin does not want an open conflict and prefers the hybrid route and yet we do not confront on the conflict side to test his will power.
Right now the Ukraine would love to declare war and have a total mobilization BUT cannot WHY--the IMF will not lend any money to a country that is actively in a declared "war" and they need the money---Soros had it really simple idea recently and yet he was totally ignored---the West should provide 50B and get the Ukraine off the financial hook, then let the Ukraine declare war with western anti tank and air weapons and go at it.
Putin is and has been deeply afraid of an open conflict and yet we do not test that assumption all we do is talk and that is not a strategy these days.
So for those that commented here that diplomacy was the way forward---want to try that concept again?-- might work in Arizona but not in the Ukraine.
BUT he knows the west will not go down that rabbit hole thus he pushes and pushes and pushes and no one says stop and this is the 21st century?
The Ukraine and Russia are effectively now at WAR and the west does what again? Talk
